January is National Human Trafficking Awareness Month

To raise awareness of this critical issue, North Star Initiative, is generously providing these pre-printed coffee sleeves for coffee shops like you to use for the month of January. This is an opportunity to show your support for the resilience and healing of trafficking survivors and recognize the efforts of those who work tirelessly to prevent and eliminate this form of abuse.

Humankind has partnered with North Star to handle the storage and delivery logistics of these sleeves and other promotional materials to coffee shops all across the Mid-Atlantic region. Supplies can be pre-ordered now and will be delivered beginning Monday, 12/23 and will continue until supplies last. If supplies become limited we may have to remove requested items from your order to ensure as many coffee shops as possible are able to participate. Since 2017, North Star has provided strenghts-based, trauma-informed care in its long-term program where residents access resources and support to meet their individual needs and goals. Their team provides a 24/7 presence to their residents, along with on-site classes, therapy groups, and life skills development. Since 2024 North Star operates this program in both Lancaster County (Harbor Home) and Berks County (Refuge Home). To experience true flourishing and avoid re-victimization, women need safe housing, dignifying work, and an effective support system. North Star's programs provide the support and time needed to move towards a sustainable and indepdent future.
